I’m building the study workspace I wanted for my own PE exam preparation.
A practice environment taking shape around questions, timing, navigation, and references. This portfolio shares the concept and selected previews as development continues.
A STUDY SESSION, FROM FIRST REVIEW TO REFLECTION
The study tool is organized around what a learner is trying to do next. These are the current account-side areas I reviewed; Civil: PE Exam Simulator remains under development, and the public portfolio is a guided overview rather than a live application preview.
Open a topic organized around the NCEES Transportation specifications, then work through focused modules, reference pointers, worked examples and study checkpoints. Lessons and exam mastery are tracked separately.
Build skill with PE-style problems and explanations, manual-location drills, formula-selection questions, or open-ended calculator practice. Topic and difficulty choices help make the next session more deliberate.
Configure a PE or manual practice attempt by length, topic scope, concepts or math focus, formula/reference mix and timing. Learning mode supports feedback; simulation is designed to hold answers until completion. Saved attempts can be resumed.
Search indexed manual text, navigate to a page and read in the built-in PDF viewer. Lesson references can point to specific manual locations, keeping the “where do I find this?” task close to the learning activity.
Set an exam timeline, weekly availability and subject priorities to shape a dated schedule with linked study tasks. Progress, topic coverage and practice signals can help choose a next focus; these indicators are study aids, not a certification of readiness.
The observed experience includes a PDF reference viewer and formula, math and calculator workflows. I did not find a learner-facing generative AI tutor or AI integration in the areas reviewed, so this page makes no AI capability claim. Manual editions and question quality require ongoing review; verify exam-specific requirements against NCEES.
ACCOUNT FEATURES ARE DESCRIBED FROM A READ-ONLY REVIEW. This public portfolio does not include account records, study history, saved attempts, manual files, or live application data.
WHY I STARTED
I had study material. I wanted a better way to sit down and use it.
When I prepared for the PE Civil: Transportation exam, a productive session meant more than answering a question. I needed to watch the time, find the right reference, keep my place, and understand what to review afterward.
Those pieces were easy to separate and harder to use together. I began building Civil: PE Exam Simulator so I could open one workspace and start practicing. The simulator grew from the way I actually wanted to study.
BUILT AROUND A STUDY SESSION
The interface keeps the mechanics of a practice session visible while I work through a problem.
See the active exam, section, question position, and remaining time together.
Move through a structured set of questions and keep progress visible as you go.
Give references a place alongside the question instead of making them a separate step.
Use answer feedback as part of the learning loop: try, check, and learn what to revisit.
WHAT I TAKE FROM THE BUILD
Building a simulator gave my exam preparation a practical shape. I could start a session, stay oriented, and use each answer to decide what to revisit.
I built it for my own preparation first. My hope is that the same focused practice space can help another transportation engineer prepare with more confidence.

The study workspace brings practice, references, timing and review into one deliberate sequence. The public preview below offers a short, independent transportation practice set.
The local browser application includes practice/exam flows and reference viewing. KaTeX, mathjs and PDF.js support mathematical and document presentation.
Learning pages have module progress, worked content and interactive controls. Recovery state preserves in-progress work in the reviewed source.
Cloudflare-backed progress and content review support the application. Visual question workflows require human review; this exhibit is independent of that bank.
| Area | Evidence status | What the source supports |
|---|---|---|
| Study workspace | Observed in local source | Practice and exams, reference library, progress pages, and learning modules. |
| Architecture | Observed in local source | JavaScript frontend, Cloudflare Worker, D1 records and R2-backed manuals; PDF.js, KaTeX and mathjs. No application data is bundled here. |
| Adaptive learning | Not established by this audit | Progress tracking is present. A validated adaptive teaching model or improved exam outcomes are not claimed. |
A useful practice loop gives a learner room to choose, check, and understand. This compact demo keeps one question in focus, gives immediate explanatory feedback, and gathers missed reasoning into a review at the end. Its questions are independently written for the public preview, rather than copied from the private bank.
Local study-tool package v1.36.95, practice/exam/learn/progress sources and visual-question review changelogs. No exam affiliation, pass-rate claim, or deployment status is inferred.
This page is an interactive case study. The demonstrations run locally using illustrative values and do not connect to the application.

PE CIVIL: TRANSPORTATION · PRACTICE SET
Ten questions across transportation topics. Choose an answer to see feedback, then review the explanations at the end.
SESSION COMPLETE
Portfolio demonstration. Questions are independently written for this public preview around the same transportation subject areas as the private study tool; they are not copied from its question bank or licensed manuals. This is not an NCEES exam or a readiness assessment. Engineering requirements should be checked against applicable sources.
